De nos jours, les sports de combat glorifient l’aspect explosif et spectaculaire de la violence ; la vision collective d’une discipline aussi riche et noble que la boxe se réduit à un fragment qui met en avant le côté violent et controversé de ce sport.

Dans la boxe féminine junior, un combat dure trois rounds de deux minutes chacun ; au cours de ces six minutes fulgurantes se condense tout un éventail d’émotions qui naissent dès les premiers mois d’entraînement pour culminer au son de la cloche.
« Thorns of Roses » souhaite explorer ce qui se cache derrière un combat.
S'éloignant d'un stéréotype purement masculin, le projet cherche à donner une image plus authentique de la figure de la « combattante ».
Mes recherches se sont principalement déroulées lors de tournois nationaux et internationaux en Irlande, en Suède et en Italie.
Les clichés capturent les instants invisibles qui composent cette réalité sportive : un univers fait de cris et de murmures, d’efforts et de larmes, de coups et d’étreintes.

Nowadays, combat sports glorify the explosive and spectacular nature of violence; the collective perception of a discipline as rich and noble as boxing is reduced to a fragment that highlights the violent and controversial side of the sport.

In junior women’s boxing, a bout lasts three rounds of two minutes each; during these six electrifying minutes, a whole range of emotions—which begin to take shape from the very first months of training—are condensed, culminating at the sound of the bell.
‘Thorns of Roses’ aims to explore what lies behind a bout.
Moving away from a purely masculine stereotype, the project seeks to present a more authentic image of the ‘female fighter’.
