Paris, FRANCE: French Interior Minister, and right-wing party Union for a Popular Movement president, Nicolas Sarkozy gives a speech during the UMP congress after being officially named as UMP candidate for France's presidential election, 14 January 2007 in Paris. Sarkozy had 98 percent of the vote in a ballot of 338,000 party members, though there was never any doubt about the result as he was the only person standing.
