Story on Declercq Trimmings , a 7 generation company that has been keeping alive the tradition of trimming, the art of decorating clothing, furniture and wall hangings with strips of fabric in gold, silk, wool or cotton thread since 1852. From its showroom in Paris and its workshop in the parisien subburbs, the family business has a worldwide reputation, with prestigious orders from castles and museums and collaborations with top decorators. Here are some beechwood tieback moulds that will be covered with thread to form what is known as a tieback, a piece of trimming designed to hold curtains in place. The wooden piece forms a tassel which generally finishes the tieback.
