Afghan widows wearing a traditional blue burqa waiting to receive food donations from the CARE International distribution in the street. Wheat, cooking oil and lentils are distributed to 10,000 widows and 50,000 children on a monthly basis. Many years of war and political instability have left the country in ruins, and dependent on foreign aid. Kabul, Afghanistan, 29/10/2001
