Vian Dakhil, member of the Iraqi parliament. She is the only Yazidi religious minority in the Iraqi Parliament. Dakhil, who is in her early 40s, ranted against the crutches she needed to walk at her home in an upscale neighbourhood of Arbil, where she lives with part of her family. She was injured in the crash of a helicopter that was weighed down with Yazidi civilians desperate to be rescued from the Sinjar mountains, where it had dropped off emergency aid for Yazidi refugees trapped there by ISIS fighters. The crash survivors, including Yazidi evacuees fleeing Mount Sinjar thousands have been stranded since fleeing the advance of Islamist militants from the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, (ISIS).
