The Kabul street art, murals have been painted over by Taliban propaganda slogans, which surrounded the security wall around Kabul, and replaced them with short sentences supporting Taliban extremist ideology.Êafter the Taliban took over the Afghan capital Kabul, on August 15, the erased mural was one showing US special envoy Zalmay Khalilzad and Taliban co-founder Abdul Ghani Baradar shaking hands after signing the 2020 Doha Deal, to withdraw American troops from Afghanistan. Mural is no more. Instead, the black and white message says don't trust the enemy's propaganda, quoting Mullah Haibatullah. The murals were drawn over a period of seven years by art collective- ArtLords. Over 2,200 murals painted across the country since 2014 venerated Afghan heroes, emphasized dialogue in place of violence and called for greater rights and freedoms for women. This is not the first time the Taliban has taken a stand against the arts in Afghanistan. When the Taliban was last in power, from 1996 to 2001, the regime defaced public paintings and destroyed cultural heritage sites around the country. Kabul. Afghnistan. 20/11/2021
