Nadia Murad, Yazidi woman was one of more than 6,700 Yazidi women taken prisoner by Islamic State (ISIS) in the village of Kocho in Sinjar, northern Iraq . She was held as a slave in the city of Mosul, beaten, burned with cigarettes, and raped.receiving the European Union's Sakharov Prize for human rights from the hands of European Parliament in Strasbourg, eastern France, Two Yazidi women who escaped sexual enslavement by the Islamic State group and went on to become advocates for others have won the European Union's Sakharov Prize for human rights. The award, named after Soviet dissident Andrei Sakharov, was created in 1988 to honor individuals or groups who defend human rights and fundamental freedoms. 13/12/2016
