Grande nacre Pinna nobilis sur les fonds marins de Scandola

La grande nacre (Pinna nobilis) est le plus grand coquillage bivalve de la planète et le deuxième plus grand coquillage après le bénitier. Elle peut atteindre 1 mètre de hauteur. Cette espèce a été longtemps récoltée pour sa précieuse nacre et son byssus, avec lesquels divers objets de décoration ou vêtements étaient fabriqués. Depuis 1992, elle fait partie des espèces bénéficiant d'une protection intégrale, il est même interdit de récolter les coquilles d'un animal mort.
