PELAGOS SANCTUARY (FRANCE), MEDITERRANEAN SEA - AUGUST 2020 : A group of long-finned pilot whales (Globicephala melas) is looking the photographer on August 15, 2020, in the French part of the Pelagos Sanctuary, Mediterranean Sea. Cetaceans’ eyes are monochromatic. As a result, they have difficulty distinguishing colors. However, their eyes contain numerous photoreceptors which enable them to see well even in dark conditions. Thanks to a number of morphological adaptations, they can see as clearly underwater as in the air, and from both near and far
