Polynésie française - Archipel des Gambiers - Rikitea - Ocean Pacifique. L'archipel des Gambiers est un haut-lieu de la perliculture en Polynésie. L'obtention d'une perle de culture est le résultat d'une opération sur les huîtres perlières que l'on nomme la greffe. Cette greffe consiste à introduire dans l'animal, après une incision, un nucléus en nacre et un petit morceau d'épithélium provenant du manteau d'une huître sacrifiée à cet effet. *** French Polynesia - Gambier Archipelago - Rikitea - Pacific Ocean. The Gambier Archipelago is a high place of pearl farming in Polynesia. Obtaining a cultured pearl is the result of an operation on pearl oysters called grafting. This graft consists of introducing into the animal, after an incision, a mother-of-pearl nucleus and a small piece of epithelium from the mantle of an oyster sacrificed for this purpose.
